Wednesday, December 12, 2007, 11:24 AM
I made it to work…not excited…..Boys school was 2 hours delayed…..house is 42 degrees….still no electric…..and no generator…darn thing didn’t work????. I’m assuming the electricity will be back today or I will be buying a new generator.
I will have more pictures up in the next couple days….you can see the trees that are down…….

We just had New Benefit Announcement at work
In order to better align the Holiday Turkey program with our Strategic Imperatives and our Corporate Mission and to make you all focus on the right things, the program has been improved. Instead of getting a Holiday Turkey, you will receive one half of a turkey this year. Next year you will receive another new half turkey in addition to the other wing from this year's turkey. You will receive an additional part of the turkey for the next five years, at which time you will receive a whole turkey again. Well, not really a whole turkey. Part of a new turkey and parts of some five year old turkeys. This is a benefit to all participants because it is more "flexible" than the old turkey program. In addition, Certain senior mangers will receive up to 250% of an additional turkey if they meet certain performance elements, e.g. make it to work 3 days out of 5 most of the time, and arrive at the office by 7am, but sit in the conference room BS with each other and drinking coffee until at least 9:30.

Merry Christmas

Sorry that’s it for today……

Freezing Rain...Led Zeppelin concert done and Van Halen coming.....
Tuesday, December 11, 2007, 08:32 AM

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

Nice little ice storm were having this morning….I’ve been awake( for the wrong reasons since 4 listening to tree branches crack and break……just waiting for the power to go out….
Here are a few pictures…those little white spots is rain in the one…..pictures don’t do this justice…..

Luckily, I’m working from home today, but unfortunately I have to drive to Indianola to get the boys because the Ex is as selfish as normal…I keep telling myself the kids will be see through when they get older…..what a nasty person. It’s not fair to the boys they have to go through this…..luckily they don’t see all of it, but they have to live through the aftermath……

Review: Zeppelin rocks in reunion show.... read it

Van Halen is coming to Wells the first week in February....

Deep Thought of the Day: Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth you'd probably be able to get a lot of free games.

Missing Led Zeppelin tonight......
Monday, December 10, 2007, 09:43 AM
Friday night the boys, Laura, her friend from work, and I went to the ISU vs. Iowa hockey game and just like football & basketball we beat IOWA…nothing new there ….if fact it started to get boring after all our scoring……

Only took 2 hours to get to the Santa Pub Crawl as the freezing rain turned the windshield into a beautiful glaze that you couldn’t see out of….causing me to stop every 5-10 minutes to scrap the windshield....Here are a few pictures...hopefully I'll get more from other people as I forgot my camera....

The night was a blast, I was surprised on how many people were still awake and fully coherent by the end of the night….except Bert …..Usually most are dead and dragging by the end, but not this year.

Towards the end of the night a few of us ended up at A.K.s downtown where Sedi continues his streak of kicking my a** at the local drinking establishment games, this time shuffleboard…..I have no excuse……OH yeah here are the rules…..

Indoor Shuffleboard
Equipment
A Shuffleboard can be any distance from 12 - 22 feet long but is generally an even number of feet in length. The height of the table from the ground should be about 30 inches and the width 20 inches. The surface is polished wood and 6 feet from the end a line is drawn across the width of the table called the foul line. Two more lines are drawn across the table nearer the end at 12 inches and 6 inches called the 2 point and 3 point lines respectively.

Each player slides 4 uniquely marked, weighted metal disks down the table called weights.

Play
Players toss a coin to decide who plays first - it is advantageous to play second. After the first "end", the winner of the previous end plays first. Should the previous end have resulted in no score, the player who went first previously goes second.

Players slide their four weights alternately attempting to get them as near as possible to the end of the board without falling off. If a weight does not completely pass over the foul line, that weight is immediately removed from play. It is normal for a player to deliberately knock already played weights in such a way that opponents weights might fall out of play while the player's weights cannon into an advantageous position.

Once all weights have been pushed down the table, the player whose weight is nearest the far end of the board wins that "end" and scores points. The other player scores no points. In order to score, a weight must:
• be on the table
• have fully crossed over the foul line
• be nearer to the end than the opponents best weight

Any such weight that is overhanging the far edge scores four points. It is possible to confirm that a weight is overhanging by passing the flat face of another weight across the rear edge - if the weight in question moves, it was overhanging. Any other qualifying weight that lands in the first second or third areas scores 1, 2 or 3 points respectively. A weight that lands on or touching a line counts as being in the lower scoring area. If no weights are in scoring positions then no points are scored.

For a two player game, the player who scores 11 points first wins. For doubles, which is played in exactly the same way as for singles, the team that scores 21 points first wins.

I finally got home at 4:30 Sunday morning….as I was worried If I stayed somewhere the bus wouldn’t start for me in the morning……

The Cowboys barely squeaked by the Lions yesterday….we need some work on our defense before we meet the Patriots in The Superbowl …This has yet to be decided, but it’s very plausible.

Missing the Led Zeppelin concert tonight in jolly old England .....couldn't come up with tickets at all...tried everything I could come up with.....they'd better tour!!!!!

To appease Marcus I need to mention that KEVIN DUBROW the lead singer from Quite Rite died last month. Loss of a great singer.....

Deep Thought of the Day: When hauling people around, make certain extra people don’t ride…otherwise the devil with come…..

Friday in the land of the lost
Friday, December 7, 2007, 09:00 AM
Wow after traveling through Des Moines last night and all the Ten and Two Death Grip drivers, I finally got out of town...only took an hour......come on people learn how to drive on this stuff!!!!

It's official I'm not farming next year, cash renting it all to my neighbor. Instead of selling my cows though, I'm going to have him take care of them and we split the calf crop. Otherwise I would take a heckuva a tax hit next year.....still going to be bad enough.

Tonight: the boys and I will be cheering on ISU at KGGO Arena (7201 Hickman) in Des Moines to cheer on the Iowa State Cyclone Hockey team against the Iowa Hawkeyes ...... Come on out and cheer your favorite team!

Saturday the Santa Pub Crawl ...if you want to know more about it check the pictures from years past.....hopefully the weather holds up....

You want a cool kid?.....Start them off early being obese and having other health problems......

Crack-whore is a Christmas tree killer!

Christmas Music is coming..............

Deep Thought of the Day: I'd like to be buried Indian-style, where they put you up on a high rack, above the ground. That way, you could get hit by meteorites and not even feel it.

Have a great Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

Another day, another $2.50
Thursday, December 6, 2007, 08:45 AM
So you want to change the world? ..... " one act of random kindness at a time ".....There is a lot of truth to this but unfortunately there seems to be a lot less good people to try and overcome all the rotten apples we now have in this world and it only gets progressively worse.

We don’t need to talk about the ISU men’s basketball team ….congratulations Drake….and apparently the Hawks won….

Just looooooove that PT Cruiser ….I feel gay driving it…..I’m sure that’s how I look too.

Hopefully I’ll have my truck back today….

Bumper sticker spotted on a Silverado pick up truck on loop 610 in Houston , Texas, on November 17, 2007 : I WISH HILLARY HAD MARRIED O.J.

Rain is coming to the Civic Center .... The Beatles experience..... check out their site here....anybody want to go?

Rockettes at the Civic Center starting tonight.....if you're into that.

Deep Thought of the Day: When you're riding in a time machine way far into the future, don't stick your elbow out the window, or it'll turn into a fossil.
