Finally RAGBRAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Friday, July 20, 2007, 09:55 AM
Didn’t get much done on the bus last night….another late night before leaving early tomorrow. Did get a few things done on the Kami site, some laundry, cleaned up some mess from the previous nights on the bus……

I had told Blaise we had sweet corn, so the entire ride home he was asking if we were having sweet corn. He went through 3 ears, like there was no tomorrow. Wait till next year when he’s missing some of those teeth; see how he likes it then. :)

Hard to say if I’ll update this site next week, its possible…but most updates if any will be on the TeamKamikaze site……we’re leaving first thing tomorrow morning…remind me what Terrance had called me about last night….I think its funny how society has found acceptance in some of that, but…………cryptic enough?

Also sometimes I talk too much, especially when someone wants to know the truth and you actually think they can handle it....but they don't. I guess just leave everyone to their own perception? …even if the ask.

Deep thought for the Day: If someone comes up to and offers to massage your shoulders. Let them, because hey it’s free!

Everyone have a great week!!!!!!

Of course SPAMALOT Rocked!!!
Thursday, July 19, 2007, 08:24 AM

What can I say…. Spamalot was awesome!!!!!! Sold out crowd. We had great seats, for getting them the day they went on sale for members. Had dinner at Court Ave Brewery then went and thoroughly enjoyed Spamalot. Even Stephanie and Emily who hadn’t ever seen Monty Python enjoyed it…..and they actually find the grail. On second thought you probably wouldn't like Spamalot, for it is a silly place! In honor of the show I have added Monty Python's Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life which they perform in the show...first song in the audio player.

People are so different, which is good and bad. Some are normal and some are totally out there. The ones out there think they are normal, of course what is normal? Majority Rules?? How about the Golden Rule? Treat others like you want to be treated. Of course, don't expect to be treated better then you treat others.....Remember life is short, so live it!

Tonight, Blaise and I are working on the bus. More mechanical things then anything, change filters & fluids. Austin is at Cub Scout camp this week...Backbone State Park....

Oh yeah! 2 days until RAGBRAI XXXV!!! You'll be able to check out our daily travel log and pictures at www.TeamKamikaze.com , if we update like we're suppose to.

Deep Thought for the Day: Ambition is like a frog sitting on a Venus Flytrap. The flytrap can bite and bite, but it won't bother the frog because it only has little tiny plant teeth. But some other stuff could happen and it could be like ambition.

Rewritable Song Lyrics
Wednesday, July 18, 2007, 04:44 PM - Dictionary
"A new kind of record company, Tailored Music Group , is selling user-customizable songs . Each song is distributed in its 'default' (generic) form, and the customer can change any (or all) of the lyrics. For a few hundred bucks, the original indie musician will re-work the song with the custom lyrics. Neat idea."

Baby, Spamalot, Exercise, and the bus.......
Wednesday, July 18, 2007, 09:43 AM
Jesse, Mark, Blaise, & I worked on the bus last night. We swapped out the stereo, not sure if this was needed. I do think we added more watts per channel and it does play mp3’s along with a hook up for Ipod’s. We got the rails up and the mounts for the bikes. I also put up a rope on the ceiling to help steady people during the ride….This will probably be more beneficial during parties……That was it….still more to do….but I should be able to handle the rest over the next few days.

Here’s another one of those blasted stories….Exercise: Key to good sex, good sleep Which makes alot of sense....feel better about yourself!

L.G.N.

I ran into Chris Benesh(Maiden name) while dropping Blaise off at daycare. She’s another one of those poor souls that work at Principal. I went to school with her….anyway her son Nolan and Blaise were born on the same day in Methodist, in the room next to us….and now they are going to daycare together and will be in the same class in the fall.

Apparently someone is 3 months along…hmmmm??? Who could that be? Congrats, Beth is very excited about having a baby!

Spamalot tonight!!! Finally!......After waiting 1 1/2 years to see it here in DSM. I first found it out on the Civic Center site Jan 06’ with the dates for last summer. Between Joann and I, we had keep a close eye on the site for the tickets to be available and finally June last year I called and they said the dates were for 07’ and promptly changed them on the site…… :-o

Squirrel Spy Ring? Thats Nuts!

Britain's latest secret weapon?

Deep Thought for the Day: A funny thing to do is, if you're out hiking and your friend gets bitten by a poisonous snake, tell him you're going to go for help, then go about ten feet and pretend that *you* got bit by a snake. Then start an argument with him about who's going to go get help. A lot of guys will start crying. That's why it makes you feel good when you tell them it was just a joke.

Saved the Calf....all over the news
Tuesday, July 17, 2007, 07:13 AM - Obituaries
Yesterday at 4:15pm I received a call from Rick and he says that a calf fell down into a drain pipe out in the field, I’m like there isn’t one big enough for a calf to fall into……He goes on explaining there is and there is a calf standing at the bottom. So when I get home he’s coming up to help me get it out. That calf was extremely lucky that Rick even was out in the field and heard it bellowing….
I’ve done a lot of different things growing up on the farm and this isn’t one of them, until yesterday. FARM RESCUE 911 :)
Rick and I was joking before we pulled it out and was like this would have made the news and I could totally see a crane and about 20-30 people out here giving there advice on how to pull it out…and I’m sure PETA would have been out here too!
The hole was probably 8-10 feet deep, I ended up getting a laureate around the calf’s body and Rick and I pulled it out of the hole. It probably weighed 200-300 pounds…

Look closely and you can make out the calf, it has its head sticking in the drain pipe, little shorter probably would have walked through it and drowned.

Sorry no action shots as the photographer (me) was busy pulling the calf out. After the calf was out, you could tell it probably had been down there for a couple days. It couldn’t wait to eat some grass; it had plenty of water down there. It was also totally exhausted, I let it set there for a few minutes, if you look close at the picture the hole is right behind it. I didn’t want it to fall back in. After a few minutes rest, I made it stand up and walked it up to the rest of the herd. Chances are its mother has forgotten it, so it would be weaned. It’s old enough to take care of itself now anyway… LUCKY ANIMAL!!!!

Did I mention MARCUS is back in the states!!!!
The Ironman Battalion is now safely at Fort McCoy, WI.
The welcome home ceremony will be on 25 July at the River Front Baseball Stadium in Waterloo.

After the calf rescue…Mark and I worked on the bus….We got the air jammer/shield, tire rack, the rear deck, new table inside(someone broke the other one…..), and the new external speakers on. Going to do more work tonight; new stereo, rails, bike mounts, and probably some cleaning…..RAGBRAI is almost here!!!!!

Saw my first Smart Fortwo car in Des Moines yesterday, some lady was at a stoplight...dinky car!

Deep Thought for the Day: If you fall down in a hole, don’t fret it. Chances are you’re not coming out, unless the planets are aligned and you can bellow.
