5 day weekend is over
Tuesday, January 20, 2009, 09:47 AM
The boys finally went back to school today after having 5 1/2 days off. They were not enthusiastic about it either.
We went skiing yesterday, finally Blaise was getting the hang of it at the end.....We just need to go one more time soon to engrain it with him. They both had fun, it wasn't too crowded, especailly after the 5 buses left at 2:30, then it was ski down get on the lift...no lines.....

Weekend we saw Paul Blart:Mall Cop ....Started off slow then picked up towards the middle. Wasn't too bad for a family comedy.

Played more basketball....we lost our game Sunday, but we made it known who we were. I'm pretty sure they were the best team in our league and if I could have contributed something we may have won....I played like crap, so I didn't even play much in the 2nd half....I feel like I've been smoking 4 packs a day......

Deep Thought of the Day: If you were a poor Indian with no weapons, and a bunch of conquistadors came up to you and asked where the gold was, I don't think it would be a good idea to say, "I swallowed it. So sue me."

Smiley At Walmart

Apparently this is why you should always twirl once in front of the mirror before leaving the house.

How about them there Hawks??
It wasn't a Cyclone that broke this story....Poor guy, he should not be fired for looking.... If Iowa wants a drunk as their broadcaster...I say go for it...Harry Caray did well for the lovable losers in Wrigleyville!
Hey, the 1970's called, they want their mustache back! And Scot Baio (Chatchi) wants his hair-do back.

What do you think? If I do this then I can't do the house, or the BP. what are those numbers for the lotto??

Another day of no school for the boys, they might as well get jobs.

Slumdog Millinaire ...pretty good!

Deep Thought of The Day: Smokers are funding so much of the government and economy. What will happen if everyone actually does quit? I guess that's why there's the whole 2009 mandatory digital cable thingie.

Negative 17....ouch!!!!
Thursday, January 15, 2009, 08:25 AM
We won and looked good the first half...until they started to press us, then ISU played like they never had been pressured before...fumbling with the ball and turnovers, jeesh....we still won....next Missouri , then Kansas (that will really say how far we need to go)

-17 ...with a possible high of -5...they canceled most schools, thinking that the diesel in the buses would gell up. Poor Austin & Blaise no school today or tomorrow(for teacher inservice or something)

...and on the sixth day God turned to the Archangel Gabriel and said: Today I am going to create a land called Iowa. It will be a land of outstanding natural beauty. It shall have tall majestic landscapes full of buffalo, tall grass, and hawks, beautiful skies, forests full of elk and deer, rich farmland and fair skinned people.God continued, 'I shall make the land rich in resources so as to makethe inhabitants prosper, I shall call these inhabitants Hawkeyes, and they shall be known as a most friendly people.

But Lord,' asked Gabriel, 'don't you think you are being too generous to these Iowans?'Not really,' replied God 'just wait and see the winters I am going to give them.'

Question: Where is this coming from, are we printing more??? Obama awaits vote in Senate for $350B bailout I know we're in somewhat hard times, but I still see some people throwing money around like it grows on trees.... FYI ...I'm not putting this bailout thing on anyone person since it started with Bush in office...

keno day2

Deep Thought of the Day : If you want to blame someone for something, ask yourself why.

We lost Mr. Roarke this morning. What a great actor.....we're just been watching the first season of Fantasy Island too .....The voice of Rich Corinthian Leather is silenced.....and he won't be in Spy Kids 4 He was 88.

He played great bad guys too(do those cancel each other out?).... Kkan and Vincent ludwig from The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad ...just got to love the way his double was throwing the Priscilla Presley doll around in that. That movie is 20 years old....

....hell we lost Patrick McGoohan too...best known for The Prisoner
I remember him best as the warden from Escape from Alcatraz

Find Another Harry
Wednesday, January 14, 2009, 12:58 PM - Stories
It doesn't matter how big a ranch you own or how many cows you brand, the size of your funeral is still gonna depend on the weather.
~ Harry Truman .

When President Truman retired from office in 1952, his income was basically a U.S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an 'allowance' and later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.

When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, "You don't want me. You want the office of the president, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and, it's not for sale."

Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing, 'I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise.'

We now see that other past presidents have found a new level of success in cashing in on the presidency, result ing in untold wealth. Today, many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now for sale.

I think good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed, "My choice early in life was either to be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell you the truth, there's hardly any difference. I, for one, believe the piano player job to be much more honorable than current politicians."

Where do we find another Harry?
Democrat, or Republican, we sure could use one now!
