Finally the widescreen TV (2.35:1) that I actually want. Actually fills the screen. Of course any TV show or 4:3 would look like crap on it. I can live with that, until I get the projector installed in my viewing room.

Last Wine night of the season, tomorrow.

Pool tonight, its going to be a great night for Steak night!

Austin's track meet last night, Indianola 7th grade boys finished second behind SE Polk. Austin did OK. Still not impressive, he did finish 2nd in his heat for the 200m Hurdles, 3rd in his heat for the 7 fly hurdles.

Bring on Friday!!!!

Best Rube Goldberg Ever
I don't think I'd take over my house just for this, but it's pretty sweet.

Fast Food CAN Kill You! ...and only in Chi Town

Austin had a track meet last night, not much to say except he stumbled on the 7 fly hurdles thing and finished 2nd to last. The team placed 2nd over all qith SE Polk beating them. Keegan on the other hand won both the shot put & discus, breaking the school records in the process....

I think we had 7 setups yesterday in Waterloo and I was in 4 of them. Long day....

Track meet tonight in Newton ....

Deep Thought of the Day: I'm not afraid of insects taking over the world, and you know why? It would take about a billion ants just to aim a gun at me, let alone fire it. And you know what I'm doing while they're aiming it at me? I just sort of slip off to the side, and then suddenly run up and kick the gun out of their hands.

Steak last night, not so good...
Pool last night, not so good...I wasn't bad, team not so good.
Opinions on ex's from others, not so good...I didn't ask either.
Lack of sleep...priceless....for everything else there are psychiatrists.

Cowboys fans take their car flags very seriously....
A man grabbed a Dallas Cowboys flag from a car that was stopped at a traffic light on L Street near Connecticut Avenue [in northwest Washington DC], threw it on the ground and was promptly punched in the face once the driver got out of his car.

One witness told the Washington Post she saw a "big, tall man walk up to this guy and hit him across the head." Then other witnesses said he walked back toward his car, picked up what presumably was the flag, and drove off

Punctuality
A priest was being honored at his retirement dinner after 25 years in the parish. A member of the congregation, who was also a leading local politician, was chosen to make the presentation and to give a little speech at the dinner.

The politician was delayed, so the priest decided to say his own few words while they waited: “I got my first impression of the parish from the first confession that I heard here. I thought I had been assigned to a terrible place. The very first person who entered my confessional told me he had stolen a television set and, when questioned by the police, was able to lie his way out of it. He had stolen money from his parents, embezzled from his employer, had an affair with his boss's wife, taken illegal drugs, and given VD to his sister. I was appalled. But as the days went on, I learned that my people were not all like that and that I had, indeed, come to a fine parish full of good and loving people'.

Just as the priest finished his talk, the politician arrived full of apologies at being late. He immediately began to make the presentation and gave his talk: “I'll never forget the first day our parish priest arrived,” said the politician. “In fact, I had the honor of being the first person to go to him for confession”.

Moral: Never, never, never be late.
